About

Me at 16. My best friend, then and now, took this photo and it remains my favorite 24 years later.

About Me

Heya, I’m Amber.

I struggle to write about myself. Not because there isn’t loads to write, but because I’m not entirely certain what’s relevant and what’s just overwhelming. If you want to label me, I suppose the relevant to this blog labels are: witch, woman, sailor, librarian, daughter, sister aunt, animist, polytheist, et cetera ad infinitum.

Too often, though, labels are a stopping place rather than a start.

I’m not here to give advice, tell you what to do, what to think. I’m not qualified for that. I’m not a priest or a scholar. I’m a learner, an explorer, and happily a layperson.

About this site

Like most sites Knotting the Wind is divided into several pages: Home, Blog, About etc.. At some point in the (hopefully near) future I will be adding several pages such as an altar dedicated to the gods and spirits that I worship and work with, a portfolio, and a mission statement & manifesto thing that’s tickling the back of my mind.

What I think is most interesting to you, my reader, right now is the blog which will eventually contain articles written in one of four categories (if I add any more I will update this list):

It’s magic!

This is where I’ll be discussing magic, practical enchantment, philosophy, ways of thinking, ways of looking at the world, and how to change. It’s magic! is my default category.

Fair wind & a following tide

This is the category title for my hopes, my brighter visions of the future, and anytime I want to discuss the few auspicious signs, technologies, movements that I come across.

Screaming into the void

Under this category I’ll do just that. Mostly this’ll be full of the rants I write when I’m angry or afraid. Politics will be discussed her, both mundane and spiritual.

Librarian life

Under Librarian life I’m going to write about library things: books, music, podcasts, websites, classes/schools, artists, etc. I’ll review & recommend media here.

My tags, for now, mirror the categories above and are limited to fear, Featured, future, library, and magic because a large volume of tags kind of freaks me out.

Ephemera

I want to start how I mean to go on, so I’m not going to be shy about asking for money. Above (and below) is a link to my Ko-fi, feel free to throw me a few bucks. Honestly, I could use the cash. Who couldn’t?
